‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ video: Lady Gaga shows off many sides

We knew that FX was going to be very keen to show off some of the different sides of Lady Gaga for the upcoming “American Horror Story” season, but who knew that they were going to do so in a single promo?

The video below (first posted by Entertainment Weekly) shows a dancing Gaga, a serious Gaga, and the pop star in a variety of other forms while German rock band Rammstein’s hit “Du Hast” plays in the background. It’s a little bit of a strange take for the show to use music that is so well-known in a promo rather than just their own score, but they are making it clear that this is a very different season.

Also, they know that it is a smart move to try to market the show a little around Gaga, someone who is still an enormous star even though she has not had a major hit song since “Applause.” They have to think that the majority of viewers who were devoted fans going into this season are going to continue to be, and maybe they can pull in some of Gaga’s Little Monsters to go along with it in an effort to set ratings records.

On the show Gaga will play Elizabeth a.k.a. the Countess, the owner of the Hotel Cortez and a woman suffering from a mysterious blood disease that leaves her with a craving for the stuff. She is not a vampire, though, and given the pale complexion of these children we continue to see, we wonder if they are the ones who she will be taking the blood from.
