It was around 11:00 a.m. today when we first realized that we may have some sort of a problem when it comes to our excitement level surrounding the arrival of Arnold Schwarzenegger to “The Celebrity Apprentice.” The reality here, though, is that we just never expected things to be this good!
Going into the search for a replacement to Donald Trump, we figured the best thing that we could hope for was a reasonably-famous host who was at best a decent replacement. It is so hard to find that sort of combination of insanely rich and insanely irrational with his decision-making on the show that we had with the current Presidential candidate. Trump was a tremendous source of unintentional comedy, and would at times fire people for seemingly no reason while keeping people like Gary Busey far longer than he deserves to say in any situation.
Below, we (being Matt Carter and Jessa) try to go through our reactions to this news in a 30-minute podcast, as we talk about how this hire probably came to happen, what it means for NBC, and also what it means for the cast.
The biggest thing to remember here is that despite how excited we may be to see this show in particular come on the air, we do have a long ways to go before it actually does. It is not on the schedule at the moment for the 2015-16 season, so our best hope for now is that it finds its way on in the summer. Given who NBC now has, it doesn’t seem smart to wait for too long.
