Miss America 2016: Was Betty Cantrell, Hannah Roberts, Kelley Johnson named the winner?

Miss America -It is pretty clear to us that this summer was far from the best one for at least one beauty pageant on television. Luckily for Miss America, it’s been able to steer clear of most of that. This pageant is still on network television, and held its pageant for 2016 on ABC Sunday night. Yes, we do wonder why this isn’t the 2015 pageant, since they for some reason choose to do the years in the same way that car companies do.

Anyway, we’re not here to talk about anything other than the competition results themselves … so let’s not waste too much time before getting to them.

One thing that we did find very interesting when looking at the top seven contestants tonight is that other than Colorado, they all came from the south / southeast. The same really goes for the top 10, and even the top 15 with the exception of Iowa. Why are states in other regions having so much trouble here? It probably in part has to do with just a general interest in pageants in a certain part of a country.

The winner this year is none other than Betty Cantrell of Georgia, while the runner-up is Hannah Roberts of Mississippi is second. Kelley Johnson of Colorado placed third, and in fourth and fifth respectively were April Nelson and Meg McGuffin.

One thing we don’t quite understand is the whole “America’s Choice” thing. It’s nice that the public gets a chance to have their say, but why does it matter too much if the judges are the ones picking the winner in the end? Just a thought.
