‘Big Brother 17’ review: How much do we praise Austin and Liz?
Sunday night’s “Big Brother 17” episode puts us in a strange position, mostly because the last thing we really want to do is come on here and write some sort of lengthy article in support of the game that Austin and Liz are playing. When it comes to likability, these two definitely don’t have it.
However, at the same exact time you have to at least give them a little bit of props for managing to not go on the block this week with Vanessa as Head of Household. They are obviously never going to turn on each other, even more than Johnny Mac and Steve. Not only that, but they have a guaranteed jury vote in Julia if just one of them makes it to the end, and Austin may have Meg and James already locked up out of the remaining players on the jury. We’re still not sold on Steve as a big jury threat since he doesn’t have the subtle charm that Ian did in season 14, and who knows what will happen with Johnny Mac?
Ultimately, we feel like Austin deserves some credit for trying to make Vanessa calm around him, though even he struggled to forget about what exactly he’d told her and hadn’t told her. We certainly do get it, since this is an almost-impossible task for anyone to keep track of. Ultimately, we blame Steve and Johnny Mac for going on the bus simply because Austin worked harder. Sometimes, that’s really all it is about.
As for Frankie Grande turning up for that reward … well, the less we say about it, the better.
