‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 9 spoilers: Will Laura Spencer return as Emily?
The ninth season of “The Big Bang Theory” definitely ended in a strange place for the character of Raj; specifically, we’re talking about him being told by Emily to have sex with her in a graveyard. It was in this moment that he realized that she was really not the right person for him, but at the same time, he didn’t know how he was going to be able to break up with her. This is a guy who has spent so much of his life looking for someone who cares about him, and he now has that. He even told her he “loved” her! The problem is that he just said it because he didn’t know what else to say.
We really like this story since it feels very much true to the nerd experience, and this is something that executive producer Steve Molaro discussed further when speaking about it to TVLine:
“I think he knows in his heart that this might not be the right person for him, but, for a sensitive and insecure guy like him, the thought of choosing to break up with someone and then be alone is difficult … That’s something he will be wrestling with further in Season 9.”
If the feelings for Raj just aren’t there, then we imagine that sooner or later he is going to have to make a touch decision. We just hope that he does it in enough time that he can find someone else before the series ends. We know that there is at least one more year after this one, and who knows beyond that?
