‘The Blacklist’ season 3 spoilers: Show boss explains further new Elizabeth Keen

The Blacklist logo any seasonSure, we are not getting a new person to play Elizabeth Keen on “The Blacklist,” and she still has the same history when season 3 premieres on NBC come October 1. However, there are some elements to this story that are very much different. She’s now a wanted woman first and foremost, and she has to live with the knowledge of what happened to her father … something that was being deliberately kept from her at least at one time.

So with this new knowledge, what is Liz going to do as she and Red are running amok? This is something that show executive producer Jon Bokenkamp expertly describes in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly:

“It informs this feeling deep inside that there’s a criminal instinct that she’s trying to resist and trying not to embrace, and yet she’s being forced to embrace by virtue of the fact that she’s on the run … The idea of who she is, what her past is, who her mother was, her ties to Russia, those all play into how she’s going to have to survive.”

One of the things we are the most curious about when it comes to this story for Liz is fairly simple: How long are they going to put her in this position? Are we going to get to a point where the FBI is able to reel her back in? We know we have to keep all of the series regulars involved on the show somehow, so the best course of action here is to just figure out how long to make the current story with her on the run interesting until it doesn’t work anymore … and then try something else.
