‘The Flash’ season 2 spoilers: Could Iris West become a leader?
For all of those out there wondering how the team at STAR Labs are going to move forward on “The Flash” without Harrison Wells in charge, we may have an answer that shows that some new leadership is coming at you from a very surprising place: Someone who is not a scientist, and didn’t even know what was going on in there for the majority of the first season.
We are talking here about Iris West, who will be newly motivated after the death of Eddie to right even more wrongs in Central City. While she’s not going to be able to use any technical know-how in order to get the job done with the likes of Cisco and Caitlin, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg tells Entertainment Weekly that there are some other qualities that she possesses that makes her perfect for the job:
“Iris slides into [the role] very naturally … She’s a born leader. One of the best things in the premiere is Barry decides that he wants to work alone because he doesn’t want to risk anyone else’s lives, and Iris is really the one who gets the band back together again. She’s the only one who can stand up to Barry.”
One of the things that the entire CW superhero operation has done so well is show time and time again that these are not solo efforts. While the Green Arrow or the Flash may be the people who are particularly well-known, they have multiple people at their side. Given everything that Barry is going to face this season, from the Atom-Smasher to also potentially Professor Zoom, he will need virtually all of the help that he can get.
“The Flash” returns on Tuesday, October 6, and Iris more than likely will get a chance to test her new skills almost right away.
