‘America’s Got Talent’ rankings: Freelusion, Selected of God, Daniella Mass lead before live show #3

AGTTuesday night, the final quarterfinal show of “America’s Got Talent” will be upon us, and another twelve acts are going to have a chance to impress the judges. Another seven are going to advance, and while we have no real clue how the semifinals are going to be structured (maybe we’re going to have some wild-cards and the field will increase to 24?), we can at least bring to you our latest contestant rankings.

As always, we’re basing these rankings on performance quality, screen time, and also the past voting history of similar acts in the competition.

12. Chapkis Dance Family – Honestly, we barely remember them. If we feel this way, than many viewers may feel the same exact thing.

11. Daditude – they’re fun, friendly, but also a little hokey. We don’t think they are as good as Old Men Grooving, a similar act who appeared on “Britain’s Got Talent” this season.

10. Metal Mulisha – For some reason, the pre-recorded acts just never have the buzz around them that we get for the live acts. It is going to work against them that they won’t have that sort of energy, even if their stunts are crazy and dangerous.

9. Professional Regurgitator – We’re torn here, and not in the way of a torn stomach like he probably has by now. It’s such a crazy, unique talent that we’ve never seen before, but is this still impressive the third time you see it?

8. Mountain Faith Band – We can see this going one of two ways for the band. Either they’ll have a solid performance and finish in the middle of the pack for votes, or they’ll be labeled as old-fashioned and sent home. We like them and we like their genre, but they need to push the envelope to appeal to the average viewer.

7. Gary Vider – We thought he was really funny in the Judge Cuts, but the Radio City Music Hall crowd can be really fickle, and something did not work for them and Myq Kaplan. We really don’t understand it, since we liked most of his jokes.

6. Benjamin Yonattan – We don’t necessarily think that Benjamin is anywhere close to the best dancer, but he’s had so much screen time with his story that the inspirational angle will help him. Still, we do also think that there is some untapped potential here that if he pulls it out, he could be a favorite.

5. Alicia Michilli – America still for the most part loves singers. We’re not as confident about them as we were a couple of years ago, but Alicia’s good enough to be put through to the next round.

4. Oz Pearlman – Oz is really good at what he does, but we’d recommend him moving more into the realm of magic than the mentalist sort of tricks we’ve seen from him those far. Those are really impressive for people at Radio City, but harder to win over people watching at home.

3. Freelusion – We feel like the series needs a good innovative act after the Freckled Sky debacle from last week (we’re blaming the voters mostly for that), and this will be the act to try to repair some of the damage from that.

2. Daniella Mass – She hasn’t received the biggest dose of screen time, but we have a really hard time thinking that a singer of her quality will not get through, even if she is buried in the early part of the show.

1. Selected of God – Choirs are popular at this stage in the competition, and the religious angle will make them appeal to Christian voters. It’s just almost impossible to imagine a scenario where they do not get through to the next round. It’s a safe pick for #1 as a result.
