‘The Vampire Diaries’: Nina Dobrev toasts former show before season 7 premiere

Vampire Diaries -

Yes, it does still feel very much strange to include the word “former” when talking about Nina Dobrev and “The Vampire Diaries,” and we’re not sure that is going to start feeling easier at any point in the near future. The actress left the show after the sixth season, but on Sunday night she had what does amount in some ways to a victory lap by appearing at the Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles, where both she and the show were honored.

The TCAs for the most part this year were not particularly memorable, but we’re going to give some credit and a quick salute here to Dobrev, who we think absolutely killed it with her speech, beginning with her taking out her fangs and saying that she “doesn’t need them anymore.” Then, she proceeded to speak with gratitude about getting a chance to play Elena, and how change sometimes is necessary for someone to learn and grow as a person. It was a positive speech about moving forward, but also reflective in its own way.

In the end, Nina said that she is looking back at the experience “with a grateful heart and a big smile,” and called her time on the show “six incredible years I’ve had the pleasure of spending” with all of the viewers and the fans.

Do we think it is possible that Dobrev brings Elena Gilbert at some point in the future? We’re certainly not ruling it out, for for no other reason than that it would give some further closure if the show ever gets around to a series finale. We’re not sure you will see her before then.
