‘The Flash’ season 2 spoilers: Prepare for Dr. Light!

FlashThe Flash” is introducing many new faces in the upcoming second season, and a good many of them are going to come about as a result of the multiverse. Is Dr. Light one of them? That just depends on how in-depth you want to go with what we are about to report.

Speaking to TVLine, showrunner Gabrielle Stanton made it clear that the show is bringing forward a female version of the character on the upcoming second season. This is in contrast to Dr. Arthur Light, who was previously mentioned briefly in a Cisco – Caitlin scene all the way back in “Arrow” 2×19 “The Man Under the Hood.” We had to go back and watch the episode just to ensure that the name Arthur was mentioned, but it was.

So what does it mean if we are getting the female Dr. Light? It’s possible that this could be some sort of alternate-universe version, but we figure it’s just as likely that the show just decides to change things up in hopes that no one remembers the previous reference to the character being the man. Either way, Dr. Light is a pretty cool character, and back on “Arrow” it was referenced that they were fired two years before events then, which was well before the particle accelerator incident that started all of the chaos.

Of course, whenever we hear the words “Doctor Light” we automatically also think about the character from Mega Man … but maybe that is just us.
