‘The Flash’ season 2 spoilers: First look at Teddy Sears as Jay Garrick!

FlashJust in case you were wondering just how much “The Flash” is really trying to pattern themselves after the comic books, we’re getting a pretty clear idea of it in the image below. This is an homage to an old issue of the comics, and it was shared today during The CW’s presentation at the TCA Summer Press Tour.

This image is your first look at Teddy Sears in the role of Jay Garrick, a man who definitely has some ties to The Flash … and comes bearing a very important warning about the future. All of, at least we figure, could eventually lead to a reminder that Professor Zoom is at some point coming to the show, and bringing a whole lost of problems with him. He has been teased as the big bad coming up, but unlike “Arrow” with Damien Darhk, it does not appear as though he is going to be showing up right away.

The comic-book recreation below is cool, but it doesn’t say too much other than that Jay will also consider himself The Flash. The most impressive thing right now about all of this is that you really get the sense that Andrew Kreisberg and the writers are trying to really emphasize above all else being faithful to the source material. They may change things, but they don’t want to change who Barry Allen is or some of the world around him.

This new season starts on October 6, and you better be prepared for a host of new villains, and also plenty of connections to DC’s “Legends of Tomorrow,” which will premiere at some point early next year.
