‘Doctor Who’ season 9: Talking the latest David Tennant rumors

Given that this is “Doctor Who” that we are talking about here, there are two things that you should know: There are always going to be rumors because the show is so popular, and to go along with that you have a ravenous British press. This particular group of reporters is pretty often intent to stir up as much gossip as possible, and they’ve done so again in this case.

One of the latest examples of this comes courtesy of the Mirror, who reports that former series star David Tennant was seen meeting with one-time show guru Russell T. Davies in Cardiff, which is of course where the show films.

Could there be something there? Bringing Tennant (who is a star of the upcoming “Jessica Jones” for Netflix) into the show again could be a fun way to callback somewhat to Capaldi’s own past on the show, given that he appeared on a previous episode during the Tenth Doctor’s run on the show. We last saw David make an appearance back during the 50th anniversary special, which was a great way to throw callbacks out to more or less the entire franchise.

Yet, this is all conjecture, and we don’t want to get to the point where we look at set pictures and start to ruin anything for ourselves. There is a reason that the public is not given an open invitation to every day of filming! There is just so much work that does need to be done.

Season 9 of “Doctor Who” has filmed for most of the year, and will be premiering on September 19.
