‘The X-Files’ spoilers: Who is returning to (presumably) spend time with Scully?

X Files -Given that the upcoming Fox revival of “The X-Files” is only taking place for six episodes, there were understandably many questions when it comes to just how many familiar faces you were going to get to fit in with the story. There is only so much time really to tell these stories, and sooner or later you do have to push forward the main storyline so that there is a reason why we got this lengthy story to begin with.

What we can tell you now is that officially, we’re going to be seeing more of Scully’s mom. Per a report from TVLine, Sheila Larken is going to reprise her role as Margaret Scully for what is definitely a welcome return. She last appeared in the ninth season of the show, and she will be in the second episode of this season entitled “Home Again.”

Fox is already making it very clear that they have high hopes for this show performing well in the ratings. After all, they are premiering it after the NFC Championship Game on January 24. Since CBS is broadcasting the Super Bowl this year, this is actually the biggest ratings lead-in that the network has in 2016. There is no better venue to launch the show.

Some of the new additions for “The X-Files” this year include Joel McHale and longtime fan / show podcast host Kumail Nanjiani. Given how long we have waited to see what happens next for Mulder and Scully, it’s fair to say that excitement is high on this end … even with the surprising news breaking recently about the pair’s relationship status. (We don’t think the sky is falling in the way that some others out there do.)
