‘The Flash’ season 2 spoilers: Meet Wally West (and potentially Kid Flash)

There is a new series regular coming to “The Flash” a little later this year, and it is one that has been teased for a rather long time now. His name is Wally West, though many who know the comic-book universe pretty well would at this point more than likely refer to him as Kid Flash.

It has been confirmed now in a statement that Keiynan Lonsdale (“Insurgent”) will be playing the part of the hero, who has appeared in various incarnations in the comic books. Obviously he is of some relation to Iris West, and beyond that the show’s plans are not entirely clear. We do at least have the following statement from executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, which gives us a little more insight into how happy he is about this new addition to the show:

“Just like when we met [star] Grant [Gustin] for the first time, we instantly knew Keiynan embodied all the heart and courage of a hero … We are so excited to be bringing this much-beloved character onto the show.”

While it is starting to feel like there are a ton of characters for this show to handle, we’re also not entirely concerned about it just yet. After all, we feels like Kreisberg and the producers have earned a lot of goodwill courtesy of some of their decisions over the years, and we do feel a certain level of trust that they are going to continue to make some good decisions here when it comes to bringing on new people. Wally does, after all, have some great material in the comics.
