‘True Detective’ season 2, episode 8 (finale) spoilers: Moving past Taylor Kitsch shocker

HBO logoThe second season of “True Detective” has certainly been polarizing, but after tonight’s episode it is pretty hard to tend that the show is lifeless going into the finale. There is so much going on now that needs to be resolved, and we anticipate the drama escalating to another level.

The title for the last episode is “Omega Station,” which is a reference possibly to a radio navigation system. There’s not much to go on there. The important story here starts with trying to make sense of what happened to Paul Woodrugh at the end of this past episode. He was killed, and now this is about getting justice from within. How do you solve a case and not let these emotions get the best of you? Ray and Ani have every reason now to be enraged over what happened. Not only that, but they also have a deeper personal connection now, and will be out to protect one another.

What we also wonder now is how in the world Frank is going to fit into all of this in the final episode. He’s clearly taking a slash-and-burn approach to making sure he protects himself, but he has also gone to a very dark place once again right after trying to clear himself up. We cannot imagine that this is going to end particularly well for him.

Take a look at the promo below. It doesn’t reveal much, other than revealing that the finale will be 90 minutes. We’re going to miss Taylor Kitsch for those…
