‘Longmire’ season 4 spoilers: A few more story teases

Longmire -It’s funny that after waiting so long for the upcoming fourth season of “Longmire” to hit Netflix, today ended up being more or less a banner day for the show. It had an enormous presence at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour as a part of Netflix’s lineup (as it should since this show is fantastic), and we got some more information on what the story is going to revolve around this season.

In terms of broad strokes, expect to see a more cinematic tale about second chances, something that everyone can relate to. Walt Longmire has to figure out what he wants to do with the knowledge of his wife’s killer; meanwhile, Henry Standing Bear has a chance to celebrate his freedom after a complicated last season, and pending the Branch survives, he may also be getting another shot at this. Even Vic’s life is expected to be in many ways different than what it was through much of the third season.

Also, executive producer Greer Shepherd made it clear that the story would also revolve around “[many] issues facing Native Americans on their reservations.” Specifically, he cited “horrific loopholes with their tribal police and courts where they can’t prosecute non-natives that commit crimes on the nation.” We’ve always appreciated the Native American side to the story on this show, mostly because when you look around the television landscape now, there is not very many shows that are actually focusing on the plight of these people and there are many rules and regulations that most Americans simply don’t know, but we all should.

As reported earlier, the fourth season of “Longmire” will start streaming on September 10, and is going to run for ten episodes. We are planning for now to review a single episode a day until the season is done.
