‘Outlander’ season 2 spoilers: Meet King Louis XV!

Outlander -As it turns out, the upcoming second season of “Outlander” on Starz is going to have a very Royal presence to it.

As first reported by Entertainment Weekly, French actor Lionel Lingelser has been cast to play the role of King Louis XV on the series. The show’s version of the king is going to be an extremely charismatic man, one who is capable of getting almost everything that he wants … and this includes any lady he may want. When things do not go his way, however, he can be rather dismissive and even ruthless (hopefully not as ruthless and Black Jack Randall!). Lingelser is going to recur throughout the second season, which means he may somehow get caught into the world of Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan).

Filming for the second season has been underway now for more than a month, and is primarily taking place in Scotland with some more exterior city shots happening in Prague. It it an immense production trying to recreate Paris, a massive and historical place that our heroes are venturing toward following the events of Black Jack Randall in season 1. Here, these two will try to rebuild their lives, as Jamie has at least some history there. What complicates things is that neither has recovered from what happened with Black Jack Randall, and Claire is pregnant with Jamie’s child. It will be a difficult process as they both try to heal from what happened and prepare for this new life at the same time.

New episodes of the series will start airing in the spring. The story this time around is based for the most part on Dragonfly in Amber, the second part of the Diana Gabaldon series.
