‘Big Brother 17’ review: Discussing Audrey Middleton’s eviction show, Britney Haynes, and more

Audrey -The saga of Audrey Middleton as a “Big Brother” contestant is one of the strangest ones that we’ve encountered throughout our time covering the show, and going into tonight’s episode there was really no evidence at all that she had a shot at staying.

As we do every Thursday night around this time, we’re going to be taking a look at the entire episode as it happens. As Julie Chen tried to hype up, for show viewers (and even feedsters during the week) one of the real questions is whether or not she would even make it to the actual eviction. She certainly looked ready to check out at times. Of course, everyone will have their own opinion about whether or not we should feed sympathy for her.

After the first segment, the show clearly doesn’t want us to feel that bad for her. They did not show any medical or mental health issues going on with her; we know that they wouldn’t show much for sensitivity reasons anyway, but the way they presented it suggested that there wasn’t much in the way of drama here at all at least inside the house.

What they did do for Audrey still was give her a lengthy hometown segment, where we did get to meet her friends and family. We actually did appreciate this one, even if we know it is really “Big Brother” killing time. Part of that is just because she herself has spoken out so little over the past several days.

Now, we come to the part of this we didn’t love. There so so much of the episode about Audrey. She even got her own unorthodox segment with a commercial break before it. To be fair, though, it didn’t feel like she had any more air time. Her not wanting to hear goodbye messages, only to then hear Shelli saying the same thing she said all week, was awkward.

The Head of Household Competition was the standard “guess the competition after hearing a song about it” one we’ve seen before, and competition beast Jackie was a co-winner! Okay, she’s not really a comp beast … but Vanessa is starting to be, and we don’t quite understand why she thinks winning all of these competitions is a good idea when she’s not in that much danger. James randomly buzzing in twice, though, was almost hilarious since he came close to randomly winning.

One last thing we had tonight was the Britney Haynes interview. This was sweet and we like Britney, but where in the world are the BB Takeovers? Are we completely over this twist already?
