‘The X-Files’ casts ‘The Flash’s’ Robbie Amell, ‘Six Feet Under’ alum as new agents

X Files -While the status of Robbie Amell for DC’s “Legends of Tomorrow” lies firmly up in the air, we can say that he has another prestigious TV gig that is also filming in Vancouver: “The X-Files.”

Amell is set to guest-star on the fourth episode of the upcoming Fox event series (premiering January 24) as Agent Miller, one of the new agents working on a case. Meanwhile, Lauren Ambrose of “Six Feet Under” fame will appear as Agent Einstein. Does this mean that she is a genius? Sorry, we’ll avoid any and all extremely obvious jokes for the remainder of this article…

This is a prestigious gig ultimately for both, even if it is only for a single episode. There are only six hours of “The X-Files” being produced, and there are few other shows out there with the same sort of beloved following as this one. Getting to appear on this is a treat, which is something that Kumail Nanjiani clearly understood when he started to share some of his comments recently about joining the show.

What we have wondered for some time is if part of the season was going to be spent on Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) helping to train new agents, in addition to trying to solve matters of the supernatural themselves. It rounds out the ensemble a little bit more; with that being said, we cannot imagine that the show is trying to groom any potential successors or anything of the sort. Without these two leads, this show just would not be the same.

We’ll have more updates throughout the filming process, as there are still episodes to go. For now, let us know what you think about Amell and Ambrose signing on in the comments, and head over here to get the truth on some other TV news via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: Fox.)
