‘True Detective’ season 2, episode 6 preview: ‘Church in Ruins’ could bring death for Ray, Frank
Tonight, we had what was easily the best episode of “True Detective” season 2. As a matter of fact, we would wager that it was not even close. The best thing that the series possibly could have done was get far away from what happened in the first four episodes, and the time jump helped dramatically with that.
So now that we are starting to get a better understanding as to what may have happened to Caspere, and the varying motivations in order to kill the man, where does the story go from here? “Church in Ruins” first and foremost is the title for the next new episode of the series, and it looks like death and danger will be looming at every turn. Ray and Frank are going to be in the middle of a violent standoff after the former feels that the latter was involved in helping to set him up in a terrible position. These two have a deep history, and this could be problematic.
Meanwhile, Ani is going to be doing her part to get someone close to her involved in an operation: Using some of these fabled “parties” to get inside information on what happens there. It is these settings that played host to some potential blackmail situations for Caspere to jump on. It’s going to be rather interesting to see what happens from here.
There are only three episodes left this season, so there is one thing that we can expect for certain: Expect to see quite a bit of drama, surprises, and possibly even death.
