‘The X-Files’ spoilers: ‘Silicon Valley’ star Kumail Nanjiani to appear

X Files -We’re not sure we have ever been as excited for someone to guest star on a show as we are for Kumail Nanjiani appearing on the upcoming revival of “The X-Files.” This is a guy who is an enormous fan of the show and has been for ages; the “Silicon Valley” star and comedian has even hosted his own podcast about the show entitled “The X-Files Files.”

The moment we first heard that he was appearing on the show (which premieres in January 2016), we were thrilled. It doesn’t really matter too much who he is going to play, which is probably a good thing given that Fox is not exactly going to be telling you anytime soon, anyway. They’ve tried to keep most everything story-wise completely under wraps. Still, you do at least know that Darin Morgan both wrote and directed the episode that Kumail will be appearing in.

Ironically, there’s a fun “Community” connection to all of this: Kumail guest-starred on the Dan Harmon comedy, and one of the other high-profile guest stars for “The X-Files” this season is Joel McHale. Some of Kumail’s other credits include “Franklin & Bash” and “The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail” on Comedy Central.

Of course, Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny are back as Scully and Mulder, and there will be six episodes that comprise the show’s return. Maybe more will come down the road, but given we waited this long just to get this batch, we’re not going to hold our breath for anything else just yet.
