‘The Flash’ season 2 spoilers: Meet the Atom-Smasher!

We already have an Atom within the world of “The Flash,” so why not go ahead and have an Atom-Smasher to go along with it? That is clearly something that the executive producers thought about at some point.

Per a new report from Comic Book Resources, WWE wrestler Adam “Edge” Copeland has been cast to play a character who, while good at one point in the comics, will be more of a villain here. Since the synopsis of the character below does not mention any specific name, we should not make too many assumptions about who this character is.

“One of the most powerful enemies we encounter this season, Atom Smasher has come to Central City to kill The Flash.  His incredible strength and ability to grow to enormous size makes him more than a match for Flash and the entire S.T.A.R. Labs team will have to come together to find a way to defeat him.”

Remember how the special-effects team for “The Flash” got an Emmy nomination earlier today for their work on Gorilla Gordd? Well, they may get another nod for this if they can pull it off right. This show has to work wonders with a smaller budget than feature films, and having some huge dude running around terrorizing Central City could make for some interesting television.

Ultimately, we’re going to be thrilled anytime that we hear about another super-cool villain joining a show like “The Flash.” Now, let us just cross our fingers for a minute or two and hope that we can see Mirror Master turn up.
