‘Mr. Robot’ episode 4 preview: Elliot tackles his demons yet again

This just in: If Wednesday night’s new episode of “Mr. Robot” is anything close to the sneak peek that we have just seen for it, it may be fair to say that we are in for quite an enormous treat. This video is all sorts of brilliant, and it offers up some great insight into just where Elliot’s mind is right now … and also unfortunately where it is not.

This video comes via Entertainment Weekly, and in it you see Elliot specifically contemplating doing a line to help ease some of what ails him, and he even gives you the full trajectory of how it gets from Mexico to where he is at the time of ingesting it. His social disorders are already well-documented, and in many ways so is the addiction. There is really nothing about this scene that surprises us.

Yet, there is still something immensely powerful about the writing at the end of the season, where he proclaims that this will be his “last” line. What makes this show so fascinating is that it gives you an intentionally unreliable narrator. You know that Elliot is not someone you can trust with himself, let alone trust to do the right thing constantly with other people. It’s very possible that we will see him in a similar and painful position yet again in the episode that follows this one.
