‘Supergirl’: CBS released another new photo of Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El

Excited for “Supergirl” to take flight? The premiere episode of the show will air on CBS October 26, and as we saw at San Diego Comic-Con, the network is going to be spending quite a bit of time in the weeks ahead promoting it in every way possible.

Today, this includes releasing another photo of Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El a.k.a. Kara Danvers, the woman at the center of the show. The show has done a very good job for the most part with the design of the costume. While it may not be all that revolutionary compared to other past iterations of the character, it is the right combination of inspired from the comics and worthy of TV … with one exception. What’s with the sleeves extending so far? The whole thing with the thumbs is not something we remember from other versions over the years.

The one thing that you do have to remember here is that there is no guarantee that this will necessarily remain verbatim the costume that Kara has for the entire series. While we don’t envision there being any huge changes (CBS likes to keep things at least fairly constant), “Arrow” is making some big changes to its costume this year. Isn’t it possible at least in theory that another show could follow suit? We certainly think so.

For now, what we are going to be interested in seeing is how many of the other villains on the show are designed over time.
