‘Supergirl’ spoilers: ‘Twilight’ alum Peter Facinelli to be Maxwell Lord

If you’ve been curious to see who will be one of the more mysterious / interesting characters coming on “Supergirl,” know this: You’re not going to be waiting long to see Maxwell Lord!

At Comic-Con Saturday night it was announced that “Twilight” actor Peter Facinelli has signed on to play the part of the tech billionaire, who will be on the show a rival of sorts to Cat Grant, who is Kara Danvers’ boss as seen in the pilot. He’s a very smart guy, and one of the things that you should be asking yourselves is this: Is he one of the good guys a la a Ray Palmer, or someone with nefarious intentions?

One of the reasons why this particular casting is so fascinating is because Maxwell is not entirely a hero or villain in the DC Comics world. He plays a big part alongside the Justice League, but he is not always on their side. This is going to be a complicated part, and Facinelli should be very capable of delivering in this role.

Also, we learned last night that Livewire is one of many villains that we are going to see in the early going on this coming season. The panel mostly hyped up the characters that are already present on the show, while also reminding the crowd that this is meant to be yet another awesome superhero show, and that it’s important that there is a strong female presence both onscreen and behind closed doors here. We have hope for it, but like with “Arrow” and “The Flash,” it may take some time before we get to the best stuff.
