‘Scream Queens’ season 2 will differ slightly from ‘American Horror Story’ format
When we first heard about the concept for “Scream Queens,” the assumption to make was that these would be somewhat of an anthology like “American Horror Story,” where every season featured a different batch of characters in a different location. We also thought that was the rive move, given you don’t want to force many viewers these days to make an enormous commitment to something. If it works for “American Horror Story,” why not try it here?
As it turns out, however, Ryan Murphy is doing something a little bit different for his Fox horror-comedy hybrid. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the prolific showrunner notes that there will be four characters who survive the first season, and they will go on to play a part in the second season, which will still have some sort of different setting:
“It’s sort of like a twist on American Horror Story: every season is a new season, a new setting, a new establishment — the difference being you will know some of the characters who will live … That’s the fun to me; the reason I love writing it and being a part of it is it’s like an Agatha Christie mystery where every week it’s who’s going to live and who’s going to die. We do kill off a huge amount of people every week. It’s a whodunit at its core.”
“American Horror Story” has become a little less of an anthology as of late, as well, getting both Naomi Grossman (Pepper) and Lily Rabe (Sister Mary Eunice) to appear in multiple seasons as the same character.
This new series will premiere on September 21, and we are very excited to see if it can prove to be as fun as some of the teasers suggest. Head over here now if you want to see some of the first photos from the show!
