‘True Detective’ season 2, episode 3 preview: ‘Maybe Tomorrow’ and Vince Vaughn’s power struggle
Sunday night’s new episode of “True Detective” was a story all about giving us more layers. For example, Ray Velcoro started to realize more than ever the true consequence of his actions, while Frank’s financial situation came to light. He may have once been a criminal, but what he is now is someone just trying to hold the tatters of his life together.
“Maybe Tomorrow” is the title for next week’s new episode, and the official synopsis for it below (via TV Guide) gives you a good sense of what creator Nic Pizzolatto has planned for the story moving forward. One of the biggest mysteries at hand is trying to figure out more of who Caspar really is, and what sort of connections he had that led to his present situation:
“Ani lets Ray know she’s in charge after he goes rogue on the investigation, even though he stumbles on crucial evidence that takes the case in a new direction. Meanwhile, Frank meets with his former associates in the criminal underworld, but they make it clear they’re not taking orders from him anymore; and Paul hits the streets to see if Caspar’s face rings a bell.”
This is a story that is starting to come together, but yet at the same time we are already a quarter of the way through the second season. Therefore, we really hope that episode 3 is one that brings us some substantial progress on the case, and where these characters could end up.
