‘Halt and Catch Fire’ season 2, episode 5 preview: Will Gordon’s secret come back to haunt him?

The second season of “Halt and Catch Fire” has been inevitably building towards a pretty exciting meeting of the minds … and also probably a chaotic one. It is already more than well-documented just how Donna and Cameron feel about Joe MacMillan. He’s a guy who took them down a road to disaster. Is he brilliant? Sure, but he self-sabotages, breaks hearts, and really has little regard for what happens to other people as a result of his own acts.

Yet, there is something about him that Gordon finds himself drawn to, and through his own desire to feel important and to assist Donna and Cameron’s company Mutiny, he arranges a great deal through Joe to get Mutiny resources on the cheap. The problem here is that he has not told the two ladies just who is the one supplying them.

In the sneak peek below from Sunday night’s new episode, the truth finally comes out as we see Gordon in a position where he really cannot hide the news from either one of them anymore. Donna wants to work directly with the supplier for two separate reasons: She wants to be directly involved, and she knows that Cameron does not want him involved after what he did the last time he tried to “help.”

In the end, we cannot see the interactions between Joe and these other characters going well … at all. Maybe they will work with him, but it will be out of desperation more so than any other prevailing emotion.
