‘The Flash’ season 2 spoilers: Grant Gustin teases potential new Big Bad
While it seems that Harrison Wells is going to be a part of “The Flash” universe still in some shape or form (Tom Cavanagh is still a series regular, people!), it does seem as though he is not going to be the new Big bad for the upcoming second season. Instead, this will be a character we haven’t yet on the series, but someone who will impact the show in a very big way almost from the outset.
This week Grant Gustin was deservedly honored with his first Saturn Award (we’ve also labeled him as a deserving Emmy candidate), and while speaking to press at the event (per Comic-Book.com), he made it clear that the show is “introducing a really cool big bad that’s going to be revealed kind of immediately.” We know that Mirror Master is specifically a villain that the producers are considering including this season, but whether or not he is the main villain remains to be seen.
Given that Gustin does specifically say the words “big bad,” this most likely means that Gorilla Grodd is not going to be the chief villain, though we do imagine that we are going to see more of him.
Gustin also commented about the upcoming “Legends of Tomorrow,” and how he is going to get a chance to play Barry at least briefly on this upcoming spin-off show premiering on The CW at midseason:
“I’m going to be a part of that right out of the gates as well … I get to be Flash on three TV shows [the third beingArrow]. I was unemployed a year and a half ago, so that’s pretty cool.”
Season 2 of “The Flash” is premiering come Tuesday, October 6 on The CW, and in many ways the network will be using that almost as a launching pad to the majority of their programming.
