Lifetime’s ‘A Deadly Adoption’ with Will Ferrell, Kristen Wiig sets social media ablaze

Lifetime -We will start this article on Lifetime’s “A Deadly Adoption” at least a little credit, if for no other reason than that they have effectively done something that we were not quite sure that they were bold enough to do: Openly make fun of themselves, and the fact that they make these sort of over-dramatic movies without much of a purpose like nobody’s business.

The promotion campaign for this movie was mostly viral, and it included the stars in Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell not really doing a whole lot in the way of promotion for it. As a matter of fact, we don’t think either one of them ever wanted the truth about their casting in this movie to get out. This would have allowed for so much more of an element of surprise, and entertainment that proved to be rather groundbreaking. Regardless, their film is still generating plenty of attention, and this is proving already to be a worthwhile gamble for Lifetime.

How do we know this beyond all else? It is really a symptom of the fact that the movie has already begun trending on Lifetime, and is generating a very impressive stream of tweets in a short period of time. This was such a smart idea for really all parties involved. For Lifetime, they get more social-media attention than they are really used to. Meanwhile, for the two stars this is a reminder that they want to continue to innovate, and not just do the same thing over and over again.

Ultimately, we’ll have to wait to see the movie’s ratings, and then following that whether or not this is something that we see the network replicate in the future.
