‘Home Fires’ season 2: Did finale ratings set a good tone?
As most of you may know now, ITV’s “Home Fires” has been officially renewed for a second season, which is going to air presumably at some point in the spring of 2016. With that being said, is the show set up well to deliver some solid ratings?
Based on what we’ve seen when it comes to the season 1 finale ratings, we would say show. The series, starring Samantha Bond and many others, ended up drawing over 5 million viewers when +1 viewers are included for the network. While these are not necessarily insane viewing figures by any means, they are once again very solid for an original scripted program on the network. While we are in an era of increased exposure of British drama around the world, ITV’s dominance in the realm has come mostly with reality competition shows and then “Downton Abbey” to go along with that. They could use another major hit.
We imagine that we will have some more news on the future of “Home Fires” at some point over the course of the lengthy hiatus, at least to a certain extent. This show was extremely quiet during production for the first season, but that was before anyone had seen it or really knew anything about it. That’s a little different, and if the show picks up some steam internationally, it could be even more popular in years to come.
Another popular premiere Sunday was the launch of “Humans,” which is actually going to be airing on AMC a little bit later this month in North America.
