‘Big Brother 17’ video: More of the same (at least from a marketing standpoint)

“Big Brother” is never going to win any awards in regards to be innovative television … at least when it comes to the way in which they release promos. The latest one is below, but it is fair to say that there is almost nothing in here that will come as much of a surprise. There is no mention of a twist, or any other gameplay information. Since the cast isn’t being revealed until next week, there is nothing else to report on there.

The reason we say “almost nothing” is because of one simple thing: The smaller amount of screen time given here to Frankie Grande in comparison to some of the other promos that are out there. We’re going to leave most of our feelings on him buried a little ways in the past, other than to say that it was somewhat strange to see him used so much given how unpopular he ended up being with many diehard fans.

The reality here is that cast-wise, we’re probably going to have at least one perosn in the game this summer with some sort of internet following already, along with a few other archetypes. We’ll have of course the hothead, the jock, a few women who will lay around all day in bikinis, and a couple of superfans who more than likely will wear glasses.

Have we heard anything in regards to returning players? Not really. We do think that the show will have them again eventually, but we also don’t think that there is that big of a need for them here. Have the last two seasons paled in comparison to season 14? Sure, but our response to that is to try and find better people.
