‘Home Fires’ episode 6 (finale) preview: How will Samantha Bond series close out (for now)?
Through its entire first season “Home Fires” has been building towards some sort of ending, and we are finally almost at the point now where we can figure out just what that ending could be. This show has revolved around a small Cheshire village on the periphery of World War II, but throughout the first season we have started to see the battles make more and more of an impact. We’ve seen lives lost, characters suffer, but also some minor victories along the way.
So as we start to see how some of the stories for the surviving characters conclude for the year, you can expect a few more surprises. At the same time, though, there is tremendous opportunity for people to grow and change. Take a look at the synopsis below for some details on what to expect:
“As the situation in Europe escalates and war draws ever closer to home, the women of the village have their own battles to fight. Frances (Samantha Bond) is determined to help Pat (Claire Rushbrook) before it’s too late, whilst Alison (Fenella Woolgar) searches for a way out of her own desperate situation. Miriam (Claire Price) hides an important piece of news from Bryn (Daniel Ryan), and it looks like Laura (Leila Mimmack) and Richard’s (Phillip McGinley) affair can’t be hidden for much longer. With the nation’s darkest hour looming, the WI faces its biggest challenge yet.”
One thing that we should comment on here is that this will not be the last episode of the series itself, as ITV has already ordered more to air in 2016. This has been one of their highest-rated series of the year, and is their biggest success in the scripted realm since the end of “Downton Abbey” season 5 in the fall.
