‘Britain’s Got Talent’ final ratings, controversy over Matisse, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon
Let’s begin this “Britain’s Got Talent” article first and foremost with some news in regards to ratings. The ITV series was watched by a hefty 11.7 million viewers on Sunday night, which marks a decent increase from the 2014 final. This marks the top entertainment telecast in Britain of the year so far, though we have a feeling that it is going to be very difficult for the show to top the incredible 17 million viewers who watched the Diversity / Susan Boyle showdown all the way back in 2009.
We don’t want to spend too much time talking in this article about the ratings, though, mostly because there are some other stories at the moment getting plenty of attention.
Matisse used a stunt double – Remember the part of Jules O’Dwyer and Matisse’s final performance that featured Matisse seemingly doing a high-wire act? As it turns out, that was not Matisse at all! O’Dwyer admitted on “Lorraine” Monday that it was another one of her dogs that did the trick, saying that Matisse has a fear of heights and it takes a long time to train a dog to do this trick.
Do we think that this is an enormous deal? Not really, and most of the people complaining about it seem to be people who voted for other acts. Should it have been disclosed? It would’ve still been nice, since we don’t think it really takes away from O’Dwyer’s skill as a trainer.
Complaints! – Yes, Britain loves complaining about random things. There were apparently, per the Independent, almost 100 complaints filed about Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon’s revealing dresses during the final. Aren’t there better things to complain about? Still, we’re talking an extremely tiny fraction of viewers here. Nothing extreme.
