‘Nashville’ season 4 spoilers: Someone will not return as series regular
While “Nashville” was renewed for a fourth season earlier this month by ABC, when it was done we did not anticipate there being really any sweeping changes when it comes to the cast. Then, we end up getting some news like what we have here.
According to a new report from TVLine, Eric Close will not be reprising his role as Teddy in a major capacity during the season. The last we saw the character, he was being taken away in handcuffs. Is this a guarantee at all that the man is done with the show? Hardly, but it should be a reminder that we may be seeing a little bit less of him. Given that he and Rayna have a biological daughter together, doesn’t it make sense to at least see a little bit of him at some point during the season? We at least like to think so.
Still, this change may not be viewed as surprising to some, given that his storylines have always drifted a little bit from some of the focus of the show these days. Given everything that has happened with “Empire” over on Fox this past season, we would not be shocked in the slightest of the producers did just about everything that they could to put even more of a musical stamp on the show moving forward. It’s a slightly different focus, and it could be a welcome one for those who really want more of the music business and less of everything else.
Still, it has to be a bummer at least to Close or fans of his character.
