‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 6, episode 4 review: Did Howard get a hero’s welcome home?
Have you been missing seeing Howard as part of the group on “The Big Bang Theory” as much as we have? Well he’s going to be returning to earth in tonight’s episode and he will of course be happy to see everyone, but is he going to get the reception he’s been dreaming about? We know that if we were part of that group we would be throwing him a big welcome back party since it just hasn’t been the same without him as part of the gang.
When Howard returns to earth, his expectations from his friends and wife are big, but when he gets off the plane and sees only Bernadette at the airport he’s pretty hurt and we don’t blame him one bit. Of course he’s happy to see Bernadette, but it would’ve been nice to see the whole gang there and we felt pretty bad for him.
Things only go from bad to worse when he goes back to Bernadette’s place to start up the honeymoon they missed out on, but she’s incredibly sick and ends up falling asleep on him after taking some cold medication. With Bernadette out cold, he figures he’d head home to see his mom, but she has a man over and it’s his dentist! After seeing his mom and his dentist through the window, he heads over to Raj’s house and sees that Stuart is not only staying with Raj, but it seems that he has replaced Howard as his best friend.
At this point Howard is feeling pretty bad about his return to earth (and we are feeling bad for him too), so he heads over to Leonard and Sheldon’s place as his last ditch attempt to get some sort of happy welcome home. Unfortunately there is no love for him there either as Leonard, Penny, Sheldon and Amy are in the throws of a heated game night and the competitiveness is nothing that Howard wants to deal with. By the end of the night he ends up alone in a diner and he’s caught Bernadette’s cold.
This was a tough episode to watch since Howard is easily our favorite character on the show and we wanted to see everyone celebrating his return as much as he did. Frankly we were a little surprised by Raj most of all, since their friendship is something that cannot be replaced and we always expected that once Howard was back, Stuart would be out. Episode grade: C+
