‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 7 episode 18 review: Will the gang still be friends in 20 years?

Do you think that Penny, Sheldon, Raj and the gang will all still be friends in 20 years? That’s something that “The Big Bang Theory” explores in this week’s episode and it’s an interesting question to ponder. Even some of the strongest friendships grow apart over the years and with the dynamics changing over the years we wonder if they will be able to make it last.

When Raj throws a murder mystery party, Raj “travels” to the future and sees that Leonard and Penny will break up over their successful careers. It leads the couple to having a real life fight about their futures and who they would each handle it if they had to give up their dream so the other could be successful. It leads to Leonard suggesting that no matter what goes down with this group, that in 20 years they will all meet in front of this apartment and have dinner together. We get a chance to look 20 years into the future and the only person that shows up is Stuart and we like to think that it’s because everyone still sees each other every day.

As far as Sheldon goes (since he didn’t go to the murder mystery dinner), he and Howard headed out to visit his mom, but the visit becomes very unsettling for him when he catches his mother having sex in the living room. After a few uncomfortable conversations they are able to come to an understanding about what she’s doing and how he feels about it.

We love the idea of the gang still being friends for the next 20 years and being there for each other’s weddings, children and other big moments in their lives. There’s a great chemistry in this group and one that we would find hard to see broken no matter what comes up in their lives since they all understand each other in a way that many friends don’t. Episode grade: B-
