‘Constantine’ season 2 a no-go at NBC; Matt Ryan series canceled (for now)

Constantine -While we cannot say that we are particularly shocked by the news that we have for you today on “Constantine,” that does not make it any less sad that the Matt Ryan series is being officially kicked to the curb. NBC has canceled it after just one season and low ratings, which means us getting to see more of the comic-book universe is just something that is not going to happen.

However, is there still hope for the show? According to creator Daniel Cerone, not all is lost just yet! The show’s studio Warner Bros. TV is searching for a new home for the show, whether that be another network or a streaming outlet. Given the demand for comic-book entertainment right now, maybe there is a chance on some sort of outlet out there. Netflix is unlikely given their current work with Marvel, but what about someone like Amazon or Yahoo, who recently revived another show in “Community” that aired on NBC?

Hopefully we’ll hear something over the next couple of months. Another idea that comes into our head is The CW, given their strong relationship with DC Comics and Warner Bros. already. The only issue we see there is finding a place for it in the schedule and the tone of the show being much darker than anything else that they have.

Ultimately, this is the best adaptation we’ve seen of the John Constantine character outside of the comic books, and with that in mind, it would be nice to see the show get some sort of second life. We’ll have to take a wait-and-see approach to see what happens next.
