‘American Idol XIV’ rankings: Where Jax, Clark Beckham, Tyanna Jones stand in top 5
Is there a little bit of drama in the “American Idol XIV” top 5? We’d say so, given that a hometown visit is on the line. While everyone is guaranteed now to be on the summer tour, you of course want more than that.
Is there a favorite to win this season? Definitely, but there’s also still just enough room for us to be surprised really at every stage left. As per usual, our rankings are based on overall performance quality, edit, and of course the all-important voting history. You cannot forget that at this point in the season, you at least know who has been in jeopardy before (even if it is only one person in this particular case).
5. Rayvon Owen – Rayvon’s done a tremendous job of beating the odds every week with the Twitter save, but that twist is going away now and it is all about how many votes you get in general. Does he have enough momentum to pull through? Maybe, but the law of averages dictates that sooner or later, he won’t pull through in the 11th hour.
4. Nick Fradiani – We like Nick quite a bit, but we don’t know if there’s been a single live-round performance that we’re going to remember as something that stands out from the crowd at this time in 2016. Voting history suggests that he’ll be safe, but he needs something more to stand a chance at winning.
3. Tyanna jones – We went back and forth on this one a lot. We’re worried about her being a potential shock boot tomorrow, but she’s earned this spot based on her body of work. Hopefully, viewers agree and keep her out of danger.
2. Jax – Probably our personal favorite left, mostly because she comes from the school of making performances her own first and foremost. We feel the least like we are watching another cover when she’s on stage, and while there may be better overall singers, nobody works as hard to be interesting.
1. Clark Beckham – He’s taken some risks, has a killer voice, and seems to overall be a nice guy. Everything about Clark suggests that he’ll win this season. He has been at #1 for a long time for a reason.
