‘Faking It’ season 2 returns in August alongside ‘Awkward’ season 5 premiere

Faking It -Let’s spend a minute now to talk about dubious decisions by MTV. Why in the world do you decide to wait until the very end of August to release the rest of “Faking It” season 2? This season is already done filming now, and by the time it returns, it will have been almost a full year since the show aired the first half of the season. This may be one of the most ridiculous decisions that MTV has ever done, and this is a network who were throwing spin-off shows to “Jersey Shore” cast members like it was free donut day at a Krispy Kreme.

The Katie Stevens – Rita Volk comedy will return with its final episodes of the season on Monday, August 31 at 9:30 p.m. Eastern … and can we also take a minute now to comment on how that is also a terrible timeslot? Think about it this way: It will be up at first against “Bachelor in Paradise,” and then moving beyond August it will compete most likely against “The Voice” and “Dancing with the Stars.” While those two shows draw older viewers, it still seems like a strange move. The same goes for putting a show with a teen audience in late summer going into the school year. We know that “Finding Carter” is airing on Tuesdays now, but we don’t understand why you wouldn’t just put this show on in early summer once it ends.

If there is any silver lining here, it is that “Faking It” has been renewed now officially for a third season. Meanwhile, “Awkward” will kick off its fifth and final season starting that same night at 9:00 p.m. Eastern.
