‘The Flash’ episode 19 preview: Will the real Eddie Thawne please stand up?

The FlashThere is something very fun about the procedural element in Tuesday night’s new episode of “The Flash,” and much of that may come from the sole fact that we have not exactly ever seen a story play out quite like this one.

Our villain for the episode is Hannibal Bates, a man known for his ability to shapeshift. However, during this episode you never really get to see Bates in his actual physical form. Instead, he simply just transforms from one person to another making him nearly impossible to catch. This is one of the many reasons why he also carries with him the alter ego of Everyman, since he really is every person other than himself. In the sneak peek below (via Zap2It), he happens to be Eddie Thawne, doing unspeakable things that Eddie would never do such as shooting other cops. This should be decent proof that Hannibal means business, and is willing to whatever he can in order to escape. By the way, this ability is probably one of the reasons why we have seen a Caitlin / Barry kiss in some promos; we don’t actually think that both of them are actually themselves when this happens.

The real danger for Barry is the chance that Bates actually ends up in contact with him, meaning that he therefore gets a chance to actually become The Flash for a period of time. It is already bad enough that there is a Reverse Flash out there , but at least Eobard Thawne has an endgame and a plan. He’s not just killing people randomly because he feels like it. Who knows what this guy would do if handed the same sort of power?

Also in this episode, get ready to see a major investigation into the real Harrison Wells, and not just the one causing problems now.
