‘The Flash’ spoilers: ‘Grodd Lives’ will finally pay off iconic villain

The FlashEven before “The Flash” premiered on The CW, we were still curious just how the show would eventually deal with Gorilla Grodd. He is one of the comic book’s most-iconic adversaries for the Flash, but at the same time, it is hard to really have a character on a live-action TV series who is a telepathic gorilla. Either you have a guy running around in a gorilla suit, or you have to CGI an entire character, which cannot be cheap if you want him to look remotely good.

So far, the show has decided to effectively hide Grodd in the sewers, using little flashes of him here and there when it makes sense to do so. Last we saw, Harrison Wells allowed the ape to go after General Eiling in an effort to seemingly protect some of his own kind. Come Tuesday, May 5, however, the man otherwise known as the Reverse Flash could end up using Grodd as a weapon to ensure that he can still achieve his goals. The CW recently released a synopsis, which you can check out below:

“Barry (Grant Gustin) must deal with the Reverse Flash’s (Tom Cavanagh) latest threat to a member of the group. To make matter worse, Dr. Wells unleashes Grodd on the city in order to distract Barry and the team. Joe (Jesse L. Martin), Barry and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) head down into the sewers to catch Grodd but the gorilla quickly gets the upper hand after he kidnaps Joe. Iris (Candice Patton) and Barry have a heart to heart talk.”

While we don’t imagine that Grodd will ever be billed as a Big Bad on this show (he’s probably too out there for many casual fans to wrap their heads around), we do hope that this is not the end for the character. He feels almost like one of the Rogues, a great person to bring around here and there when the situation calls for it.
