‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 11, episode 20 preview: On Ellen Pompeo, Patrick Demsey, ‘where is Derek?’ mystery

Thursday night’s “Grey’s Anatomy” episode has you worried, and you have not even had a chance to see it yet. You can blame almost all of these feelings on what is the episode’s primary mystery now, and that is trying to figure out just where in the world Dr. Derek Shepherd is. Also, this episode (entitled “One Flight Down”) has the Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital taking on some plane crash survivors, but that is not emphasized at all in some of the sneak peeks below.

1. Concern over Derek – This is obviously the cliffhanger going into tonight’s episode: What in the world happened to Derek? Is he off cheating, is he injured, or did something even worse happen to him? It is not often that the show chooses to play up this sort of mystery, given that there are only so many places he could be, and it would be very out of character for him to just suddenly decide that he does not want to go into a key meeting at the White House.

Meredith DOES have a reason to worry. Still, we have a reason to be hopeful. Patrick Dempsey is under contract for next season.

2. Flashbacks galore – While this disappearance continues, Meredith is going to continue struggling on the job, knowing full well that her husband is missing and there is nothing she can do. Therefore, she does what we feel any sane person would do, and that is try to retrace some of her last moments with him in hopes of finding answers.

Unfortunately for her, there are not exactly any coming quickly here.
