‘The Flash’ episode 18 spoilers: Emily Kinney describes her Bug-Eyed Bandit

Kinney -If you have been waiting for a while to see what Emily Kinney brings to the world of “The Flash,” the good news is that the waiting is almost over! The former “Walking Dead” star will grace the CW series tonight in “All-Star Team-Up,” playing a character in Brie Larvin who is a very different sort of opponent than the crew at STAR Labs has taken on. She’s not so much a physical threat as she is a cerebral one. She’s an intellectual rival to Felicity Smoak, and she also has an army of mechanical bees that she can send out to do her bidding. Hence, she has the name of the Bug-Eyed Bandit (or at least the character does in the comics, when Larvin was also a man).

So how does Kinney describe her very-different version of the character? In previewing the story to Entertainment Weekly, she describes that her motivation is vengeance, which is certainly something that we’ve seen from Hartley Rathaway, Slade Wilson, and a variety of other characters in the DC – TV universe.

“She’s a person who isolated herself from the world … She’s been holding a grudge against the people who fired her. She’s been creating these mechanical bees and they were worried she was mostly using them for evil, so she got fired and her career was ruined by this company. Now she’s been using her bees and her computer skills to cause havoc and get revenge.”

We do get the feeling already that Larvin could be a character we see more than once, at least provided that her schedule allows it and she is not locked away. It’s a great change of pace for Kinney, and she has the potential to cross over even to the untitled team-up spin-off series. After all, this character in the comics is actually an adversary of the Atom more so than anyone else.
