David Letterman’s final guests include Bill Murray, Howard Stern, Oprah Winfrey

Late Show -When you remember the legacy of David Letterman, then you know that there are certain people who really need to be on some of his final shows. He has guests who tend to stop by his show almost on an annual basis, even if they have really nothing new to promote.

For the most part, we are very much impressed with the lineup of guests that “The Late Show” has assembled for the next month. While we do not know exact dates just yet, some folks who are appearing to help send Dave off are Bill Murray, Tom Hanks, Oprah Winfrey, Howard Stern, Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Roberts, John Travolta, Jack Hanna, Tina Fey, Will Ferrell, Steve Martin, Sarah Jessica Parker, Elvis Costello, the Dave Matthews Band, George Clooney, Don Rickles, and many more.

The only names we would consider missing from the list in terms of much-desired guests are Drew Barrymore, who was front and center of one of Letterman’s most-famous moments on air (think of it as a birthday celebration) and Regis Philbin. Regis has been a longtime friend of Dave’s, and we would very much like it if he was the final guest. There are some other people we would like to see, including Adam Sandler (who once guest-hosted an episode), Joaquin Phoenix (one of his greatest interviews ever), and maybe even Jimmy Kimmel, even if that is difficult given that Kimmel films in Los Angeles. Kimmel has long said that Letterman is his idol, and watching him freak out when Dave appeared on his show when he was in Brooklyn was joyous.

Dave’s final show is Wednesday, May 20. Meanwhile, Stephen Colbert will be taking over “The Late Show” starting this fall.
