‘Blue Bloods’ season 5, episode 20 preview: What’s next for Donnie Wahlberg, cast in ‘Payback’

Blue Bloods season 5Tonight, “Blue Bloods” gave us an episode that was one of its most compelling yet, mostly because it explored the complicated connection between police work and journalism. There are times when the two are on the same page, but there are also a number of times when this is not the case at all. One seeks either glory or exposure for a problem, while the other wants hardline justice. Just be happy that end in the end tonight, we had some sort of solution that offered up some temporary satisfaction.

So where do we go moving into next week’s new episode? How about a dive into the world of culinary television? It’s a completely random sort of case, and almost feels like something that is out of a more comedic crime procedural. That is why we are rather curious to see what this show in particular opts to do with it. Take a look at the synopsis below:

“When a suspect voluntarily admits to killing a reality show celebrity chef in his own restaurant, Danny and Baez are convinced the suspect is taking the fall for someone.  Also, Frank faces a moral dilemma when a longtime friend, Sen. Ted McCreary, asks for Frank’s help to make a DUI go away, and investigative journalist Anne Farrell returns.”

We don’t mention the Frank story right away here because unlike the Danny story, we’re not as enthused about it as we are with Danny’s, or the emotional sequence that we have in the promo below. It’s just something that we have seen on the show before in other forms.
