‘Dancing with the Stars’ 20 review: Riker Lynch, Nastia Liuken, Patti LaBelle hope to impress

Dancing with the Stars -Tonight, “Dancing with the Stars” is out to let you get to know more about its contestants, at least in the form of the music that they like. Oh, and they are also out to eliminate the first contestant of the season, as well. You’re going to find out more about some of the music that they really like … but it’s not going to go so well for everyone. We’re going to have a little bit more on that as the night progresses, so be on the lookout for that!

Of course, at the end of the night we’ll have another article talking extensively about the first person to be sent home. It’s never easy to be put into that position, since you try so hard to be on the show that you don’t want to be one of the first person sent home.

Chris Soules and Witney Carson, Cha Cha – This was a mess. Chris is a nice enough guy, but he does not exactly have the sort of dance skill to do well on this show long-term. He was better last week. Score: 21.

Suzanne Somers and Tony Dovolani, Jive – Suzanne is still surprising us! She’s not the most talented dancer this season, but she has the effort and the performance quality to make up for it. Score: 28.

Robert Herjavec and Kym Johnson, Foxtrot – This was a nice performance. It was lyrical, pretty, and shows that Robert continues to surprise us in a variety of great ways. Score: 28.

Charlotte McKinney and Keo Motsepe, Jive – We don’t necessarily think Charlotte is long for the show, but we do want to see her and Keo stick around at least another week. She is far more vulnerable than we expected, and we really get the sense that she is trying. Score: 26.

Michael Sam and Peta Murgatroyd, Foxtrot – Could the judges possibly come up with slightly more varied scores? This was the third routine of the night to get the same exact score for everyone … and it was boring much like the routine. Score: 28.

Rumer Willis and Val Chmerkovskiy, Cha Cha – Sure, it may have been a slight letdown after that crazy performance that we had last week, but it was still very brisk and entertaining! It was going to be hard for them to top that. Score: 32.

Noah Galloway and Sharna Burgess, Samba – Yes, there is zero doubt that Noah can really charm an audience, and his dancing was fairly solid. However, admit it: You all saw that girlfriend arriving from basic training from miles away. Score: 27.

Redfoo and Emma Slater, Jive – Hey, Redfoo is not terrible anymore! We certainly did not project this a while back, but he actually came out and delivered a very competent dance here to show his improvement. Score: 31.

Willow Shields and Mark Ballas, Cha Cha – This was probably underscored in many ways by the fact that it is so early in the season. This actually was a rather gorgeous routine to behold. Well done to Mark for the concept. Score: 32.

Nastia Liukin and Derek Hough, Rumba – Shocker! Nastia’s great at a lyrical dance. Her movement was pristine. The only thing she needs to work on is the chemistry, which felt at times careful. Score: 34.

Riker Lynch and Allison Holker, Fox Trot – This was really nice! It showed not just Riker’s eyes, but also that he has a more elegant side that he is not afraid of. This is by far the most impressive thing he’s done so far. Score: 32.

Patti LaBelle and Artem Chigvintsev – We have no idea what this was at all. Still, it was very entertaining! Despite her injury, Patti managed to still doing fairly well. Score: 28.
