‘Empire’ season 2 spoilers: Are there plans to follow Vernon shocker?

Let’s face it: When your show is called “Empire,” there are going to be some moments here and there where some crazy stuff goes down, and characters potentially lose their lives. We had that with Bunky at the start of the season, and we had it take place with Vernon in the face, following a lengthy fight that it involved him, Andrew, and ultimately Rhonda.

Will the show follow the reaction and everything that happens out of this crime? Based on what we are hearing right now, it’s at least possible. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Ilene Chaiken makes it clear that the writers are still very early in the process, but are figuring out more and more how they want this story to go. For now, they just have a few notes:

“We think that a little bit. We don’t know. I can answer that in the context of the Bunky murder: Lee and Danny had made a pilot and somebody got murdered. Nobody knew if that would be followed through and we made a season worth of story out of it and I don’t think it’s even over yet. I don’t know what we’ll do with that storyline in season two because we haven’t even begun but I do know that as there will clearly be a story about Lucious in prison and getting out of prison and whether he does and whether he beats the rap, the fact that the star witness is dead is an opportunity.”

This should be a fun handful of episodes whenever the show does return, and it’s probably only going to get even more dramatic and juicy. The twist now here for Lucious is that it seems like he’s not going anywhere in the near future in terms of his health; however, he’s also not in terms of being behind bars.
