‘The Flash’ / ‘Arrow’ spin-off spoilers: Dominic Purcell joins as Heat Wave

When “The Flash” and “Arrow” get their still-untitled spin-off show, they are going to have more than one villain around in a regular capacity.

Per a new report from Deadline, Dominic Purcell has been added to the series. As you know from watching “The Flash,” he plays Leonard Snart a.k.a. Captain Cold’s partner-in-crime Mick Rory, otherwise known as Heat Wave. This is cool for “Prison Break” fans especially, given that you have him and Wentworth Miller now working together again for a large capacity. We imagine that all of this could also mean great things for Peyton List, who is going to play Leonard’s sister Lisa on “The Flash” later this season. Depending on how the show presents her character, she could be an important factor in everything in due time.

Speaking to TVLine, executive producer Marc Guggenheim referred to Captain Cold as a “villain among heroes” in the project, which is going to be planned out to launch at midseason. (In other words, don’t look for it in the fall.) This suggests to us that maybe he is a Suicide Squad sort of character working now for the good guys despite his past. We’ve heard a variety of theories on this, including some that revolve around Barry Allen’s larger story this season. (We will not say too much, just in case we are actually correct.)

There are still many questions out there about this show. For example, it is still unclear if Caity Lotz is playing Sara Lance or a different character, just as it is unclear if Robbie Amell is coming aboard here as Ronnie Raymond.
