‘American Horror Story’ season 5: Jessica Lange not returning; Matt Bomer signs on

American Horror Story -For the first thirty or so minutes of the “American Horror Story” panel at PaleyFest, there was one question that almost everyone wanted to know an answer to: Will Jessica Lange return for a fifth season? Well, we now know an answer to the question, and it’s not great for those who love the character so much.

Lange finally confirmed at the event that she will not be a part of the show, which is rather sad to just about everyone that loved her so much over the years. She’s had a chance play four really great characters! Ultimately, though, she felt it was time to move on. This does give some other actresses a chance to shine, but it does mean that Ryan Murphy and the writers have to completely revolutionize the show in many ways.

For those who are bummed out about losing Lange (who seemed genuinely surprised to even be asked the question about her future), there was some good news: Matt Bomer is on board! He made a brief appearance on “Freak Show” in a role that tied him to Michael Chiklis and Finn Wittrock, but this will be much more substantial. He is also going to be working alongside Lady Gaga in some capacity, but he refused to confirm or deny if their relation on the show will be romantic.

Also, it was confirmed that Cheyenne Jackson will be coming on the show in some major capacity, as well. He has worked with Ryan Murphy on “Glee” before.
